This paper presents the transformation processes of the municipium of Pitinum Pisaurense, from the roman age to late antiquity. In Late Antiquity the consular road Via Flaminia was strategic, especially during the Gothic war, just as the control of coastal cities (Ariminum, Pisaurum, Fanum Fortunae) and mountain passes. In the Roman Age also the "via Ariminensis" was important, as it connected Arretium - Ariminum with diverticula getting as far as the municipia of Sassina, Sestinum and Pitinum Pisaurense (Macerata Feltria, PU). Pitinum was in the midst of a crisis in the fifth century when there was a progressive abandon of settlements. In the seventh century there is no evidence of human settlement anymore.
